Almost Forgotten

No more than a whisperWoman-Sunset-1024x680
Of your voice remains
No more than a shadow
Of your smile stains
The fading memories…

Only a hint of what
Could have been
Faintly obscures
the distant scene
Of the future…

Like a small cloud
Passing over the sun briefly
On a summer’s day
Your charms have faded away
Into dandelion wishes…

Nothing more than an echo
Of a lost song
Sung once on a quiet night
With that dying light
You are almost forgotten…

    1. Thank you for visiting my page, William, and for commenting. Sometimes those memories that strike the heart so deeply never leave us and never fade. Yet, with time, the ones that leave the biggest scars heal until we can smile at the sun again, laugh with the children, and find joy in the moment. Wistful wishes will always linger, but I am grateful for the truth that time does heal.

      1. I do it my way: I dream a little dream.
Where would I be if I did not dream
        Little dreams?
When I dream my little dreams
        I am most happy.
        I capture your smile.
        Priceless!

    1. Thank you Manu! I know, I know, it’s been a long time. I was so caught up in my trip in England running about and playing tourist that I neglected my writing. I will be more diligent though. 🙂

  1. Tenderly and softly penned …. just beautiful, Melissa. Someone I lost who I Loved so very much came to mind while reading your words. Your “spirit” comes through so eloquently with these words … there is a “glow”. Much Love to you! 💞💞💞

    1. Awww…thank you Amy!! It’s what I have been hearing from many people. The words I wrote seem to have touched several people individually. It was odd in a way how it came out. I almost felt as if someone else was inspiring them. I’m really touched and feel honored that you liked it. ❤
